How to join Dell Children’s Health Plan

If your children already have CHIP or STAR with another health plan, you can switch to Dell Children's Health Plan at any time. Just call the CHIP/STAR Helpline at 1-800-964-2777 (TTY 7-1-1) and tell them you want to switch to Dell Children’s Health Plan.

To become a member of Dell Children's Health Plan, you must first apply and qualify for CHIP or STAR.

If you need to apply for CHIP or STAR, you can apply online at YourTexasBenefits.com, by calling 2-1-1, option 2, or by printing and mailing your application.

Who can join Dell Children’s Health Plan?

We serve CHIP and STAR eligible individuals, including newborns up to age 20, and pregnant or new moms who live in these Central Texas counties:

Dell Children’s Health Plan benefits to help you through your pregnancy and as a new mom including prenatal visits.

To qualify for CHIP or STAR, a child must be:

Age 18 or younger. Children up to age 20 can qualify for in some cases.
A Texas resident.
A U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident. The parent’s immigration status does not matter.

*For pregnant women to qualify, they must be unable to get and not have any other health coverage.

CHIP and STAR cover eye exams and glasses. Dell Children’s Health Plan offers extra vision benefits.

Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and STAR eligibility is determined by how much the parents make, along with a few other factors. Check the income chart below to see if your children may qualify for one of these programs.
